A bitterly cold morning at Pit Lane Shipley and a grey sky without a hint of brightness as the group of 10 gathered for today's walk through tracks and woodland to Cotmanhay before descending into the Erewash valley towards Shipley Lock and the old MFN site (now a wedding venue) and transitting sections of both the Nottingham and Erewash canals before returning through fields and woodland - thanks to Mike C for the photos
We are a local group of The Ramblers,
based in south-east Derbyshire, established in 1981. We organise group walks in the
local area and beyond, lead by experienced walk leaders. We are a friendly bunch of like minded
people who enjoy the many benefits of walking in the open air. Our Footpath Secretary and Wardens work diligently to monitor and do minor cutting back on footpaths to help maintain Rights of Way in the Erewash area.
